 In the wake of policy setbacks, such as Affirmative Action and DEI, the lasting effects of slavery that include physical and economic violence are harsher than before. Now is the time to use your voice for reparations. As emerging social work professionals, your passion and skills are essential in uplifting Black communities and shaping a future where your vote and voice can be  counted.

  • Social Justice: Challenge inequity and stigma while advocating for equal access to resources and financial empowerment through education.

Our National Imperative: Financial Reparations 

  • National Reparations Program: Advocate for direct financial compensation as recognition of historical and ongoing injustices against Black Americans. 

  • Dismantle Barriers: Work to eliminate economic and social obstacles that prevent community advancement. 

Local Action: Pioneering Steps in New York State 

  • Support NYS Initiatives: Champion New York’s groundbreaking reparations bill and commission efforts. 

  • Collaborate for Change: Engage with policymakers and community leaders to ensure that reparative measures are informed by and tailored to community needs.
